Hi Denise! Thanks for writing such a thoughtful response. I'm sure we could have a long discussion about this, but I wanted to share some concise points:

- If it's any consolation, the earnings of your one post (far!) exceeds the earnings of any single one of mine.

- I was fortunate to join Medium during the time a lot of people were reading it (and when Twitter/FB showed a lot of love to Medium articles), so yes, in theory, more people follow me here. However, as I mention in the article, I'd wager less than half of them actually still use Medium now post-Paywall—so the discrepancy between the number of people reading our work probably isn't as great as you might think.

- It could be worth it for you to define what "quality" means for you; to quote Ethan Hawke, “Because it’s not up to us whether what we do is any good. And if history has taught us anything, the world is an extremely unreliable critic.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRS9Gek4V5Q Quality and popularity/profitability/reach are two very different things. I'm sure you wrote some great posts about love and positivity, even though they weren't as profitable. I expand on this in an excerpt of my book: https://www.holloway.com/g/creative-doing/sections/decide-what-quality-means?utm_source=share_section_link

Thanks again for reading and writing, and I hope to see more of your work!
